Domestic Violence Controversy
Due to the lack of response by local police on domestic abuse, thousands of people are said to be more prone to abuse or even murder. The failure in this department has been put down to the numerous amounts of cuts in the police force in the past couple of months. Although this has affected thousands of people and many in the police force there are a few serial offenders including: Greater Manchester, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Gloucestershire. These police forces have been specifically criticised in their report. The issue raised mostly through each report was the fact that each of these forces did not have enough dedicated domestic violence officers; Bedfordshire, for example, only had one of these officers.
The reason that this has become such a huge problem is the fact that domestic abuse has been linked to 8% of crimes and this is a very significant amount of reports. In total there have been close to 300,000 domestic abuse related crimes and approximately 60,000 cases involving high risk of serious harm or murder offences. Also there have been 96,000 cases of assault where victims have suffered minor and fatal injuries. There is no forseen solution in the near future to this problem but different police forces have been trying to come up with a reason as to why these cases are happening in the first place, this in turn may help reduce the problem slowly. Drake Fakes
A large number of tickets for Drake’s recent concert at the O2 Arena in London were faked. Drake performed at the O2 Arena on Monday 24th to Wednesday 26th of March, 2014. On each night, at least 170 fans were turned away from the international pop star’s concert due to their ticket having been fakes. An O2 spokesperson said, “Many people had been scammed by ticket touts, despite a numerous amount of procedures we have undertaken to protect our customers.” The majority of fake tickets were sold on Gumtree, Twitter and on ticketing sites like Seat Wave and Viagogo.
Many people have spent £80 or more to get tickets for their children or themselves and were sorely disappointed when they weren’t able watch Drake live in performance. The same thing happened last month at Beyonce’s gig at Manchester’s phones 4 u Arena, with more than 140 people
being turned away.

The Celts Seal Title With Seven Games Left
Yesterday Celtic sealed their 45th Scottish title with a 5-1 victory against Patrick Thistle. The Celts played phenomenal football dominating the game all throughout the 1st and second half. This was a massive relief for Celtic after the Glasgow side were knocked out of 2 domestic cup competitions. The Celts seem to be in a roll seeing as this is their 3rd consecutive championship in a row. This is the earliest title that has been secured since the Rangers won the championship back in 1929; it’s been one hell of the season for the Celts now the race is on for the runner ups.
England Cuts FA Funding By £1.6m After Grassroots Decline
The football association have a great problem after £1.6m of the public funds was cut because of grassroots decline. This was a result to the decrease in numbers of people regularly playing the sport. The national game was one of 7 sports to have their funding reduced by sport England. FA secretary Alex Horne announced the reduction and said a number of factors, including poor weather and increased costs were presenting difficulties to clubs and players. Golf also lost a ridiculous amount of funding after £500,000 of their funding was cut. But there are also reductions in England for netball, hockey and rowing. Looking at the figures I can evaluate that football has been hit the worst after a significant drop in the number of people playing it.
